Why did you choose Chemistry as a field of study?
I chose to study Chemistry to be able to design and synthesize new molecules with interesting properties/bioactivities. I studied medicinal chemistry as an undergraduate student, taking a combination of both advanced organic chemistry classes and biochemistry/biology classes. The focus of my lab lies primarily in the development of new methods to streamline the synthesis of peptides and peptide mimics, with a focus on unnatural amino acids with backbone modifications as a way to control their reactivity, folding, and function.
