Ph.D. in Chemistry, 2007

Tashni-Ann Dubroy immigrated from Jamaica to the United States when she was 17 years old. Although her parents lacked a college education, they infused an entrepreneurial spirit into their daughter, who went on to become an accomplished scholar. Dubroy obtained her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Shaw University and then earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from NC State. Following her graduate studies in the Department of Chemistry, she then earned an MBA in marketing from Rutgers. After spending three years in the private sector she returned to Shaw, first as a faculty member and then as the university’s president as the second-youngest president in Shaw’s history. Dubroy is currently the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Howard University.
