Why did you choose Chemistry?
I chose chemistry because I have always been fascinated by construction and application. I’ve always loved knowing what are things made of and how to compound on this to create more impactful resources and technology for others.
What are you involved in outside of Chemistry?
I’ve definitely kept myself busy outside of the department! I am a Goodnight Scholar and University Scholar. I am also the President of the National Pan-Hellenic Council and a Fall ‘19 initiate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. For fun, I also participate in club gymnastics.
How do these activities complement your future plans in Chemistry?
I’ve learned a lot of problem solving through my participation in extracurricular activities, as well as learning how to work at a high level with comparatively limited resources. I hope to work in research and development for sustainable materials, and in novel fields, both of these traits are going to be extremely important! I also have been able to make so many connections through the Goodnight Scholars program, and have a really great community to depend on.

With your science and future plans, always be thinking about how you can make a positive contribution to your community and the global community. This will help lead the way!
