Title:
Manganese Catalysis for Hydrosilylation, Hydroboration, and Dehydrogenative Cross Coupling: Application in the Synthesis of Poly(silyl ether)s
Abstract:
Manganese has attracted significant recent attention due to its abundance, low toxicity, and versatility in catalysis. We have been interested in high valent manganese complexes supported by salen ligands, and demonstrated that they are effective in catalyzing hydrosilylation and hydroboration of carbonyl compounds, as well as the dehydrogenative cross coupling of alcohols and hydrosilanes. Furthermore, this methodology has been employed in the synthesis of poly(silyl ether)s (PSEs), a class of hydrolytically degradable polymers because of the labile Si-O-C connections.. A series of biobased monomers have been incorporated into PSEs, and their potential applications are being explored.
