Vice Dean at Da Nang University in Vietnam visits Chemistry Department at NC State

Ho Viet Thang, vice dean and faculty member in chemical engineering at the Da Nang University of Science and Technology in Vietnam, visited NC State September 30 – October 1. 

During his visit, he presented a seminar on his pioneering research entitled “DFT Insights into high stability of single atom catalysts.” He also met with chemistry faculty and discussed possible collaborations with the faculty and students.  At least 20 NC State chemistry graduate students are from Vietnam.

The Department of Chemistry has mounted an aggressive effort to recruit talented international graduate students, and now hosts students from Vietnam, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Iran, Lebanon, Cyprus, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Spain, Greece, Netherlands, Jamaica and Brazil. The department has 188 graduate students, of which 75 are international.
