Chemistry Annual Holiday Dinner

The Department of Chemistry has a yearly tradition of hosting an Annual Holiday Dinner to celebrate the holiday season. On December 6, 2023, the department organized a dinner party at the Stockroom at 230, located in downtown Raleigh. The atmosphere at the event was light-hearted and enjoyable, with great food that everyone loved. The event provided an opportunity for colleagues and friends to socialize outside of their regular working hours.

Chemistry Alum Mixer at SERMACS 2023

On Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, the College of Sciences and the Department of Chemistry hosted a gathering at Pour TapRoom in Durham to coincide with the 2023 Southeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (SERMACS) in Durham. The event was attended by chemistry alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends, who all enjoyed catching up with each other while enjoying the reception.

Active Threat Response Training

On December 1, 2023, the Department of Chemistry invited the NC State Police Department to meet with its members and introduce them to the Active Threat Response Training. The program was designed to be an open dialog discussion around three scenarios when confronted with an active threat, as well as the pros and cons of each.

Creating a Culture of Wellness

The Department of Chemistry hosted a presentation by Alexis Steptoe (Assistant Director of Wellness), who spoke on “Creating a Culture of Wellness” on NC State’s Wellness Day, February 13.  Faculty, staff and students learned about elements of wellness and various ways to practice self-care.

Safety Compressed Gas – Cryogenic Training

On February 16, the department organized a Safety Compressed Gas – Cryogenic training that involved an overview of the regulations and some demonstrations.
