We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Travis Varner has recently joined the Department of Chemistry at NC State University as Teaching Assistant Professor.
In 2016, Dr. Varner graduated with a B.S. in biochemistry from the College of Charleston (CofC). More recently, he completed his Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) under the direction of Prof. Frank Leibfarth. His research focused on organic and polymer synthesis, and his dissertation was entitled “Stereoselective Cationic Polymerization of Vinyl Ethers Through Asymmetric–Ion Pairing Catalysis”.
Dr. Varner has a strong desire to help prepare and empower students to take on challenging problems inside the classroom and beyond and we are looking forward to him contributing to our teaching and service missions.
Welcome to the WolfPack, Travis!
