What is National Chemistry Week?
National Chemistry Week (NCW) has been celebrated since 1986. It is a public awareness campaign organized by the American Chemical Society (ACS) that promotes the value of chemistry in everyday life. The CGSA works with regional organizations to kick off NCW for Raleigh where we educate attendees with fun, hands-on activities! The mission of this event is to reach the public, particularly elementary and secondary school children, with positive messages about chemistry to better educate them about the crucial role of chemistry in everyday life.
What to Expect
This year (2024) the theme is “Picture Perfect Chemistry”. We have planned many hands-on activities, such as face painting and science experiments about imaging and photography. Everybody is welcome to participate!
Food & Drink: There will be a variety of food trucks on-site offering options for purchase. Please note that food and drinks will not be provided for free at this event. However, you are welcome to bring your own snacks or meals.
Schedule
12:00 pm: Event Begins
1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 pm: Hourly Elephant Toothpaste demonstrations and Raffle Prize drawings
3:30 pm: Event Concludes
