Meet four of our Incoming International Graduate Students

Some of the newest graduate students who will be joining the Department of Chemistry this year are international students. Meet four of them hailing from Bengladesh, Trinidad and Tobago, Vietnam, and Lebanon, and hear some fun facts about them.

Reem Alameh

Reem AlamehReem is from Beirut, Lebanon. She has a B.S. in Chemistry that she earned from the Lebanese American University (L.A.U) in 2020. Her goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry.

A fun fact about Reem:

I ran down 36 floors to survive a fire!

Phuong V. Tran

Phuong V. TranPhuong is from Vietnam. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from University of Science in Ho Chi Minh city. Her goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with a focus on organic synthesis.

A fun fact about Phuong:

I enjoy playing badminton!

Ellen Warner

Ellen Warner Ellen is from Santa Cruz, Trinidad and Tobago. She has a B.S. in Chemistry that she earned from Davidson College. Her goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry.

A fun fact about Ellen:

I did crew at Davidson for my fourth year there. Also I went to high school in Wales for two years at a school called UWC Atlantic College!

Sultan Ahmed

Sultan Ahmed

Sultan is from Pabna, Bengladesh. He has a B.S. in Chemistry that he earned from University of Dhaka back in 2010, and an M.S. in Chemistry that he earned from Texas Tech University in 2020. His goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry.

A fun fact about Sultan:

Eloped with my girlfriend during sophomore wich was very serious that time but now it is fun for us!
