Organic Chemistry Seminar Series: William Lubell (Université de Montréal)

April 11, 2022 | 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm

William Lubell Headshot
William Lubell
Professor of Chemistry
Université de Montréal, Canada

About the Speaker:

Professor in the department of chemistry at the Université de Montréal, William Lubell is actively investigating solution-phase and solid-phase synthesis of heterocycles, amino acids, peptides, peptide mimics, and the preparation of their libraries by combinatorial science. His interests lie both in developing a new methodology for effectively synthesizing these novel structures for drug discovery, as well as in their use to explore protein folding, molecular recognition, and bioorganic catalysis.

Education:

1984: A.B., Chemistry, Columbia University, NYC, NY, USA

1989: Ph.D., Professor H. Rapoport, Department of Chemistry, University of California, Berkeley, USA, Thesis Title: “Alpha Amino Carbonyl Compounds, Synthesis of the Cyclosporine MeBmt Amino Acid.”

1990-91: Postdoctoral Fellow, Professor R. Noyori, Department of Chemistry, University of Nagoya, Nagoya, Japan
