The Gorman group research interests include:
  • Synthesis of new molecular, macromolecular, supramolecular and fabricated architectures on the nanometer length scale that are designed to display new behaviors.
  • Investigation as to how structure controls properties using a variety of analytical characterization techniques

Our current research activities in the group can be broadly divided into four main areas:

  • Synthesis of new redox-active core dendrimers and study of the relationship between molecular conformation and electron transfer;
  • Investigating new types of self-assembled monolayers that are more dynamic than those studied previously;
  • Synthesis of new conducting polymer architectures and their use in all organic circuits;
  • Synthesis and characterization of polymers on surfaces that display dynamic behaviors.

Fall 2011 - Welcome to new graduate students Andrew Herrmann, Jingchao Xu and Jiancheng Zhu

Visitors are welcome to attend our group meetings. Group meetings are held on Mondays at 9:30 AM in Partners III room 363.

First Year Graduate Students are especially welcomed!
